Before and After

Before:

After!

The remodel is done, I'm moved back in, and I am so glad that it's finally over!  You can't see it, but just off screen to the right are my closet doors.  I have my halter and two bridles hanging on the handles, but that's not exactly what I had in mind for them.  Any suggestions for display?

I'm still plugging away on that website, but I'm going to try to get the tutorial ready to be proofed by my lovely test subjects.  Blog topics coming soon:  a bridle tutorial and an article (of sorts) about going buckle-free! When the tutorial has been proofed and corrected, I'm going to try to get it into a PDF.  Text-only it's four pages in Word, so you can imagine how long of a blog post that would be!

  1. Cute room! Love the colors. One suggestion for the halter and bridles: how about a small key hanger-rack (sorry, forgot what it's called!)? Or, you could take a piece of wood, put tiny scew hooks in, and hang multiple halters and bridles on. Then you could either stand it on a shelf or hang it. Looking forward to those tutorials!

  2. Thanks, Deanna! Perhaps I should have specified...the halter and bridles are full-sized, real horse ones! I found them at a couple of garage sales and picked them up cheaply to use for decorating.

  3. That's a great studio. Maybe one day I'll manage to get a place with a spare room to turn into a studio - and the organizational skills to actually set it up like a studio.

  6. Oops, I wondered why a tiny halter and bridles were being hung on big closet door handles! Hmm...maybe you could get an antique-looking coat hanger, not the stand-up kind but a wall mounted one, and hang them on the pegs. Or, they still would look pretty neat hung on the handles! :D

  7. What about a cool colored bridle/halter rack that coordinates with your room?

  9. Thanks for the suggestions on hanging the halter and bridles! For now I think I'll have to keep them on the closet door handles, but hopefully I'll find a better solution soon. It's amazing how painful putting holes in the walls can be after you spent three days painting them!

@ Elise: I inherited the neat gene from my mother, and the pack-rat gene from my father. They are constantly at war! What usually happens is that I maintain a certain level of organized chaos that cannot be sustained indefinitely. When I've had it, I go on a cleaning binge. It's a vicious cycle. Also, the desk is that tidy because half of my junk lives in my closet!

@ Christine: I started working on a few blog projects today, and the desk is already trashed!

as for the bridles/halters...maybe you could get a bridle rack hanger thing..forgot what they are called, and hang it on something, like they have in tack rooms etc...sorry, i'm not making alot of sense am i??!!!

  12. Looks great! I too have the neat gene from mom and the pack-rat (and antique collecting!) gene from my dad. Complicated by the fact that my husband is an uber-minimalist. It's an interesting mix!

The room looks great. So light and inviting! It will be a great place to work. I can't wait for the new tutorials and such!

  13. Your room looks great! What about something like this or the bridles: http://goodwoods.com.au/new/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=30522
You can hang it over a door or rail without drilling holes in the wall.

Looking forward the tute and article.

  14. Wow! Everything is so neat! I'm attempting not to look at my own desk so that I don't feel bad, or have the urge to clean it. But every time I try to clean it I run across some uncompleted project, and suddenly I know exactly how to do whatever I couldn't before, that I get so caught up in that the day is gone...

  15. I'm looking forward to the tutorials. I haven't made any tack for a long time now, but I love knowing how it's done.

    Enjoy the new room!
